A snippet from "The world's last night"
I suppose the experience of final judgement (which may break upon us at any moment) will be like these little experiences, but magnified to the Nth.
For it will be infallible judgement. If it is favorable we shall have no fear, if unfavorable, no hope, that it is wrong. We shall not only believe, we shall know, know beyond doubt in every fiber of our appalled or delighted being, that as the Judge has said, so we are: neither more nor less nor other. We shall perhaps even realize that in some dim fashion we could have known it all along.
This is passage is a lot to take in. I had to read it a few times to understand judgement.
There are so many things that we do on this earth. Certain events in our everyday life are unplanned, therefore our words and actions become unpredictable. When we stand before God on judgement day, we are also judged for these unpredictable moments. Imagine, how precise we must be in knowing what our words and actions intend.
There have been so many times when I've been praised for the good things I've done. These words of affirmation are beautiful to receive but, when I do something wrong, the same people don't tell me I was wrong. They show me--by taking a step back, being mad, or avoiding me. These actions are first confusing, but most importantly hurtful because there are certain times that I won't even know that I've hurt them.
Not everyone tells us that they're mad and not everyone confronts us of our mistakes. Yet, it falls upon us to realize that we are wrong. It is up to us to correct our mistakes and ask for forgiveness. Yes, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. Our words are so important as they can break or mend a heart. Imagine, how important it is to communicate our intentions well.
After reading this passage, I'm realizing that it is important to think before we make the smallest decision to use our words. For even the smallest conversations are judged.
My Aunt always says "Be careful of what you say." The end result to each conversation is vital. If good comes off of it, that's great. If bad comes out of it, we very well know that we are in the wrong, as our conscience will not object to the bad outcome (We shall not only believe, we shall know, know beyond doubt in every fiber of our appalled or delighted being, that as the Judge has said, so we are: neither more nor less nor other.)
I'm just sitting here and taking a deep breath as I write, as there is so much truth to this passage. When I stand before God and get rewarded for the accomplishments, that's great. But what if I get punished for the smaller reckless decisions I've taken?
Can I ever withstand that kind of judgement from the one I love?
This might help you.
ReplyDelete* Do not judge others. (Scripture says "Keep the way of the Lord to do justice and judgment.")
* Forgive others and you shall be forgiven.
* Pray for forgiveness of sins for committing sins knowingly as well as unknowingly.
* Show mercy to others and you shall find mercy from the Lord.
* Most important is tongue. King Solomon recognised the immense power of words: A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth....Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles. (Prov: 13:2, 21:23)
And his father king David prayed "Set a watch, Oh Lord, before my mouth: keep the door of my lips. (Psalm 141:3)
* You can withstand the day of judgment because He loves you. Remember "We love Him because He first loved us."
A serious matter......... Lord save us till the end.
ReplyDeleteEntire life is not enough to know God and his mercy which endures for forever. AS we go more deeper and deeper his nature of love dwells our soul but still pain, sorrow and unhappiness follow us. Almighty God knows everything but he is looking for true worshippers and he forgives also that,s why he knows we have done sin. Your deep understanding will rise more questions and he is having all the answers.- kumarsujay
